Your thyroid is a small gland in your neck which makes hormones. These hormones regulate your metabolic rate (how quickly your body’s cells use energy) and help maintain your core temperature.

Thyroid problems can lead to tiredness, low mood and weight issues, so it’s essential for your health that it’s working correctly.

Iron is important in making red blood cells which carry oxygen around your body. It also helps keep your muscles healthy, supports your immune system, and helps your organs work properly. Low iron levels can lead to tiredness, lightheadedness and fatigue.

FAQs

There are many reasons why you might feel tired all the time. Some common culprits include low vitamin B12, low vitamin D, iron deficiency or problems with your thyroid function.

The main role of your thyroid is to control your metabolism (the body’s process of converting food and drink into energy). If you have an underactive thyroid gland, it can slow down your metabolism and impact your energy levels. The result can be that you feel like you need to nap a lot during the day or that you’re too exhausted to exercise.

Talk to your doctor before taking this test. Being pregnant can have a noticeable impact on your results, so make sure to check in with your GP first.
