Is it for me?

You’ll want to test your B12 levels if:

You already take B12 supplements and want to monitor your levels.
You don’t eat much meat, fish and dairy (for example, a vegan diet).
You’re concerned your B12 may be low. Common symptoms include: extreme tiredness, mouth ulcers and low energy.

Great test!

FAQs

B12 is a key vitamin we get from our diets. It’s needed for a bunch of bodily functions, including red blood cell production, tissue and cell repair, and nerve health.

Vitamin B12 deficiency is common, even though it’s naturally found in many animal foods like meat, fish, eggs and dairy. That’s why if you’re a long-term vegan or vegetarian, it’s wise to check your B12 levels regularly.

But you don’t just have to be a vegan or vegetarian to be deficient in B12. If you have any symptoms such as tiredness, low energy, mouth ulcers, breathlessness, pale skin or headaches, these may be a sign of B12 deficiency.

When you have low vitamin B12 levels, you may get the following symptoms:

  • tiredness
  • headaches
  • pale skin
  • low mood

If your B12 levels are particularly low, then mouth ulcers, pins and needles, and extreme tiredness are common. Keeping track of your levels is crucial to prevent any long-term damage to your body.

Talk to your doctor before taking this test. Being pregnant can have a noticeable impact on your results, so make sure to check in with your GP first.
